I had really hoped to be down ninety pounds by the end of May and half way to my goal, but that didn't happen. And if you noticed the pictures that I have at the end of May are dated 5/28. That's because I took off on the 28th of May on a nice long motorcycle ride from Cary, NC to Dallas, TX.

I had told my daughter in Dallas a couple of months earlier that if I lost enough weight to be able to get into my rain gear I would ride my bike down to Dallas for my granddaughter's graduation from high school. And even though I didn't quite get to my halfway mark, I did get small enough to be able to wear the rain gear. And it was good that I could because all told I rode in the rain on three of the five day's I was on the road.

It was a good trip for me. I had decided in January that I would have to sell the bike because I had gotten so big that it really wasn't safe for me to ride any more, and it was so uncomfortable that it wasn't fun any more either. Even though I was still a long way from my goal I had gotten small enough that it was a very pleasant trip for me. And I did learn that I could travel and eat out and still do Low Carb eating. I hit the breakfast places for omelets, and the buffet and cafeterias for meat dishes. Also I carried a cooler and took plenty of hard boiled eggs and cheese and meat snacks.

I was gone a total of eleven days, did some walking on most of those days but not near as much as if I had been home. And managed to lose only two pounds on the trip. At least I didn't gain any.

I finally reached the half way mark on June 17th. Promptly bounced back  five pounds and then got back to that mark on the 22nd to stay. I never did  understand why I gained that five pounds and why it took five days to get  rid of it. But that's just they way it seems to go sometimes.

The rest of the month was pretty uneventful but it did end on a real high note. I hit the one hundred pounds lost mark on the thirtieth of June and that was exciting for me.

That's one hundred pounds in 146 days, or .69 pounds/day.

As you can see from the summary table below, the exercise program is starting to make a real difference. In June I computed that half the weight I lost was because of the walking and by the end 37 of the 100 pounds total is gone because of exercise. And my endurance and speed are getting better. I'm up to a little over three miles/hour for the first time, and I had reached twelve miles a day in my walking program. I was walking 6 miles in the morning and 6 again in the evening.
