I didn't see the doctor in May, but I did have some blood work done. He was concerned about my clotting factors now that I was off the Coumadin and while we were at it we did a Serum Glucose test, it was 75 (normal 65-109) and a Hemoglobin A1C test and it was 4.5, (normal 4.5-5.7). The clotting factor test were all normal.

I was really cruising along losing weight and actually did well until the 10th of May. That was the day that I opened the box on my new Bowflex strength training machine. I was going to build me a body. That was the ninety-fifth day of my diet and I had lost 76 pounds, that's a whopping eight tenths of a pound a day. And I just knew that I was going to reach my goal of 180 pounds lost long before the end of October. Seems I still had a bit to learn about losing weight!!!

As you will see from the table below I ended up only losing 14 pounds this month. But that put me at 82 pounds down and within striking distance of the one hundreds for the first time in thirty years. And I knew that if I could get under 200 pounds I would be able to get off that CPAP machine that I had slept with since 1987. I guess it's really true that muscle weighs more than fat!!

The exercise is starting to pay off also. If the formula's are to be believed I walked off 9 pounds of the 14 pounds that I lost in May, and a total of 28 pounds of the 82 total pounds lost can be attributed to the exercise program. And I'm actually managing to walk a mile in less then 20 minutes every-once-in-a-while. My legs are finally getting used to all the walking and most of the time I'm able to walk pain free. For the first time since probably 1987 I was able to do just a little jogging. I've got a long ways to go before I'm going to be able to run, but I can see that someday it could happen.

As you can see from the chart below, the inches are starting to come off for real. I'm down more than fifty inches by the end of the month and that's more than four feet.
