In the month of May I began to realize that the pain I had felt in my left foot since the previous September was probably Diabetic Neuropathic Pain and decided that I needed to do something about it. So I started walking. I had not walked since 2007 because of knee pain in both legs.
In fact in May of 2008 I was told that I needed partial knee joint replacement in both knees. Not a very good prospect for me. Also my weight had ballooned back up to about 280 lbs. So as you can see from the chart above I decided to start walking.
The good news is that within two weeks the pain in my left foot went away and has not come back. Also my knees soon began to feel a lot better and get stronger. I still have a bit of pain in the left one but not near as much as before I started walking.
Also my blood pressure had dropped at least 20 points and my blood sugar has dropped from 111 to 81. All in all the walking has helped me start to get healthy again.
In July we had to make a long trip by car and at the end of the month I ended up in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. After a two day stay there I came home even more determined to get healthy. As you can see I've done well since then.
